Become a mentor

MakerWorkshop is a fully student-run and volunteer-run shop, and we’re always on the lookout for more awesome mentors (like YOU!) to keep making it work.

We typically onboard new mentors twice a year, with applications going out in August (new mentor training at start of fall term) and January (new mentor training at start of spring term).

Potentially relevant details:

Our Mentors run the shop during open hours, train users on machines, help with student projects, and have a say in new equipment and tool purchases .
The time commitment is one two-hour shift and one hour of training each week, with an occasional 1-2 hours for machine maintenance/repairs when needed.
In return, Mentors enjoy off-hours access to MakerWorkshop, which means access to all of our tools, machines, and resources when you need them most! And a great community of makers and builders.

Undergrads, grad students, postdocs, and staff are all eligible to apply.

You don’t need to be a shop guru to be a mentor — we’ll train you and help you learn from current mentors on the job.
